Brooke Istas is a long-time ANN member who has served this organization in a variety of leadership roles, including webmaster and Region 2 representative. You also may recognize her contributions as moderator of the Math & Numeracy LINCS discussion group. She is a professor at Cowley College in Kansas and also a doctoral student at Southern Methodist University. And now she is the recipient of the 2020 COABE Incentive Grant which will support her research study, "Adult Learners' Perceptions of Mathematics Class." Her research seeks to understand the mathematical journey of adult learners, with a focus on the experiences at the root of math anxiety and trauma, with the hope to create interventions to nurture and heal our adult learners.
We can't wait for her to share her findings in the coming year.
Congratulations, Brooke. We are so proud of you and all the work you are doing!
(See the attached press release from COABE for more information on Brooke and her important work).
